Clean the carpet. Make any repairs that are obviously needed. Put yourself in the home buyers’ shoes and imagine what they would think when viewing your home. Be objective and brutally honest with yourself.

Show Good Curb Appeal

Don't overlook the outside of your property. You don't want a home buyer to eliminate your home based on its outside appearance. The lawn should be cut, bushes and shrubs trimmed and leaves raked. The front of the house should have a neat and clean appearance. Even the mailbox should be presentable and functional.

Offer Incentives

Offering incentives can sway potential home buyers to select your property over others. You may want to consider offering a carpet or paint allowance. If the buyer knows up front that there is an allowance for the worn carpet or paint, they may overlook those cosmetic flaws.
